Meditation, Yoga & Spiritual Growth Carnival – April 15, 2007 – Edition 1

Posted in Spiritual Blogging by Anmol Mehta

Welcome to the April 15, 2007 edition of the Meditation, Yoga and Spiritual Growth Carnival.  This is our very first Meditation, Yoga and Spiritual Growth Carnival and as you can see below, we got a fantastic response from everybody.  So first off, thanks to all of you who participated and shared your thoughts and words with us.  There are a wide range of great articles below which I am sure, readers and authors will find interesting, inspiring, useful and enjoyable.

In creating this edition I found many interesting blogs, full of rich content and here are some of my comments and highlights (in no particular order).  The comments are followed by all the carnival submissions.  Don’t assume the ones I did not comment on were not also excellent so check those out as well.

My Comments:

Albert Foong’s Urban Monk is always worth visiting.  In the article, Happiness: How to Maximise Pleasure and Joy, below he speaks about the process of bearing witness to pain and pleasure and indicates how to impersonalize these sensations.  He also goes into the art of “opening the senses” to the wonders of the simple, present moment.

Christina Mitchell provides a handy 5 Minute Stress Buster.  Which I just did btw :-)

Ben’s Dreaming Life Blog.  If you are interested in Dreaming and Lucid Dreaming bookmark this website.

Craig Harper’s Article on “Do It Yourself Prison.“  For those who are fans of Osho (Rajneesh) and G. I. Gurdjieff, both Masters of the Fourth Way, you will enjoy the inspiration Craig provides to challenge the comfort zone we imprison ourselves in.  He motivates us to have courage and face our fears.

Brandon Peele’s blog on Generative Transformation.  Blog includes many interesting and illuminating posts which require a careful read to fully appreciate.

Found some very interesting articles on Nneka’s Blog, The Balanced Life Center (specially the one on Jesus as the Great Example).  Go visit and enjoy.

I really enjoyed Walk The Edge’s post, Be the Change: The Story of Kalsang’s Cousin and the Incense Man, and the experience she reveals in it.  Is can be summarized as “If I want peace, I need to be peaceful.”

I found Caroline Latham’s article on Easy Steps to Improve Your Brain Health Now to be a very easy read and full of good advice.

John Hill takes on the challenge of defining What Is Spirituality? and in his post, among other interesting concepts, he emphasizes the interconnectedness of all.

Amanda Herrington very correctly points out the important connection between Yoga and Ayurveda in GET THE YOGA/AYURVEDA CONNECTION.  Hit this post to get a good overview of what Ayurveda is… to give you a start, it is the “Ancient holistic medicine system from India…”

I saved the best for last.  Kara-Leah shares her experience of Kundalini with us in this very open, insightful and informative post Kundalini awakening or bi-polar surfacing?.  She points out, not only the beauty, mystery and reality of Kundalini, but also the difficulties, which can arise, if this awesome power within us, is not approached with respect and intelligence.  Bookmark her blog like I have and enjoy her wonderful, inspiring writings.

[...] Participating in three more carnivals this week. I recommend Carnival of Courage at Dragonslayer’s Guide to Life, and Meditation, Yoga and Spiritual Growth carnival at Mastery of Meditation, Enlightment and Kundalini Yoga. Check them out! The third I’m not recommending exactly - his comments about my post are kinda rude. But if you’re interested, it’s at Carnival of Storytelling. You can see for yourself where he’s coming from.
