Third Eye - Ajna Chakra Opening & Balancing Course Syllabus:

The following describes the 3 sections comprising the 30 minute daily yoga and meditation session for this class.  The approximate total times for each section and set are also given.  Take more rest if you need to, or if you feel comfortable do the poses and exercises a little longer.  Each breathing exercise, Kundalini Yoga Kriya and Guided Meditation technique below is a link to the article with all the details you need.

Third Eye (Ajna Chakra) Opening & Balancing Class: Each day for 1 week do the following…

Breathing Exercises Section (Pranayama):  Total time 5-10 Minutes

Kundalini Yoga Section:  Total time 5-10 minutes

  • Kundalini Awakening Raja Yoga Kriya: 5-10 minutes - Do the Beginners version and only if comfortable with that move onto the Intermediate or Advanced versions.  This set will channel Kundalini Energy up towards the higher regions.

Guided Meditation Section:  Total time 5-10 minutes

  • Ajna Chakra Meditation Technique: 5-10 minutes - This meditation technique uses the power of the Seed Mantra (OM) for the Third Eye Chakra to open and balance the Chakra.

Third Eye - Ajna Chakra Opening & Balancing Participation Guidelines

Following are the guidelines which I suggest we follow…

  • Please post all comments, questions and feedback in the comments section of this post.  This way all will benefit from the discussion.  Feel free to ask questions or discuss issues, as that is one of the main reasons for this particular class format.  Of course, you are free to email me as well if you would like the discussion to not be public.
  • If you like, you can indicate with a comment that you have completed your daily session.  Could be as short as "did it", or of course could be questions, issues or more detailed feedback.  The hardest part with a daily yoga and meditation practice is establishing consistency and regularity and I think having to acknowledge that you completed your daily sadhana (spiritual work) will help in facilitating that.  In addition, your comments would inspire others as well.
  • I will post all information regarding the class in the comments section below as well, so please check periodically for updates.
  • Before starting your daily yoga and meditation session, take a moment and tune in to your higher self for guidance and protection.  At the end of every session, visualize yourself and the world as you would like it to be.
  • Do the best you can and modify the class as you require.  It is more important to do something, than be overwhelmed and not do anything at all.
  • I wish you all a wonderful learning and transforming experience.

  23. Your friend said,

    on January 12th, 2008 at 11:21 pm

“DO NOT OVERDO OR OVER STRAIN and at the same time don’t have it be too easy either”. I was thinking about that. In the video on how to open the third eye the person who is showing that says(or so I think now anyway) that you should close your eyes and focus on the eyebrow center for 15 min. If 15 min is okey than 16 min is that to. But what about 5 hours(if that’s insane, relax it’s cool I haven’t done that). So my question now is: how many minutes per day should one focus on the center mentioned above if one thinks the exerince is so wonderful but still don’t want to be in any danger of messing with the kundalini force or somthing simular?

  24. Anmol Mehta said,

    on January 14th, 2008 at 10:29 pm

    Hello Friend,

The determining factor for how long to attend to the Third Eye is not time. It is determined by the following 2 factors…

    1. If you are already overly reliant on intuition, have a vivid imagination leading to too much daydreaming, not a sound thinker, or a overly “spacy” person, your Third Eye is too open so I would not recommend doing this meditation. Also, if you have done too many recreational drugs, etc, or have mental issues, Third Eye meditation is not recommended.

    2. If you have intense sensations in this region, such as it’s collapsing into a small point, or expanding enormously and pushing out the conscious mind, then too I would say to back off doing Third Eye meditations.

If neither of the above is true, give it all the attention you want as long as you are not straining.

    Hope this helps,
    Anmol

    Hello Anmol,
It’s me again. I am proud to say I haven’t yet missed a day!

I completed two weeks of the heart chakra course and have noticed two things:
    1. I can hold the camel posture with no discomfort or wheezing for over a minute now . (I need to learn some patience ;-)
    2. I have noticed a sensation at the center of my chest — it feels like a short, weak, heartbeat that is out of cycle with my actual heartbeat. It is sort of an excited feeling. It is more or less always there now. Could this be a result of the yoga and is there something I should do for it?

I am now working my way through the Anja Chakra course and am enjoying it.

Also I have a question, I have some job interviews coming up in the next few weeks and was wondering if you had any suggestions for kriyas/meditations/breathing I could do to help calm the nerves, center me and bring me luck!

Thanks again for all your help and this wonderful resource,
    Steph

  32. Anmol Mehta said,

    on February 23rd, 2008 at 1:09 am

    Hey Steph,

Great to hear of the progress you have made.

Please tell me more about this sensation in the chest that you are feeling. Anything more to help describe it.

Here are some suggestions to help you w/ you interviews.

    1. Attitude: Welcome the risk. Interviews may bring with them some nervous times, insecurity, fear, so treat it like an adventure. Check out this little article of courage, it might inspire you to embrace the danger happily…

    Inspiring Osho Quote on Courage

Often when I embrace the above attitude, in normally nervous situations, I end up being very calm, relaxed and centered, as I am open and not resisting the discomfort. In fact looking forward to what challenge it might bring.

    2. Pranayama: To settle the nerves and relax, you can try this simple breathing exercise prior to the interview. It is very handy for instant relaxation…

    Simple Relaxation Meditation Technique

    3. For luck - turn inward and just ask for guidance and inspiration. There is no greater source of either than your true divine nature within. Another article for that… (boy I have written a lot on stuff on this blog :-)

    Can a Guru Help

Good luck on your interviews, all my good wishes are with you.

    Best,
    Anmol

  33. Steph said,

    on February 24th, 2008 at 2:37 pm

Once again Anmol, thank you so much for your guidance. I have incorporated your suggestions into my job search ;-) Two interviews survived so far with one outright job offer and I’ll hear about the other next week! I found your writings to be very helpful.

With regard to the chest sensation…it is difficult to describe - it feels like the potential for a pulse or flutter that never happens, right behind the lower half of my sternum. Maybe a little bit like a hunger pang, but higher. I think I mentioned earlier that it feels like I am excited, but without trigger. I am thinking it is yoga related because it started to appear when I was working through the heart chakra class…although this also coincides with my job search, so it could be nerves too…

I have really been enjoying the experiences I have been having with Mastery of Meditation. Since I have now completed all the courses, I’ve started back at the beginning — I’ll try to do some of the more intermediate versions of the exercises now. (and I look forward to new courses to come ;-)

    Steph

  34. Anmol Mehta said,

    on February 25th, 2008 at 4:38 pm

    Hey Steph,

Great news with the job front. Glad to hear the interviews are reaping rewards.

Keep an eye on that chest sensation as I am still not entirely sure what it is. I get something similar when I don’t exercise enough (and that is not uncommon with others too who generally exercise and then don’t for a period of time). In my case it is of no concern. In your case the situation is not quite the same.

Just observe how you feel overall as an indicator of your general health from doing the yoga. Back off if you feel unwell or over strained from doing any of the exercises.

If the sensation remains a concern, perhaps you want to consult your doc, for peace of mind.

I guess I really do need to get a move on with getting more courses online :-), which is great news actually. Am working towards that.

    Best,
    Anmol

  40. Anmol Mehta said,

    Hey Brendan,

Yes, this course contains a pretty advanced set (the Raja Yoga set to Awaken Kundalini). It is tough to practice and master, but certainly very rewarding to those who do. In fact this technique of using breath and body locks is a science in an of itself.

    Thanks for all your feedback.

  41. brendan ring said,

    Hi Anmol,
Whilst practicing this set last night I had, what was for me, a rather unusual experience, which I would like to share with you. After completing the Pranayama and the Raja Kryia, i felt quite normal but when I lay down in corpse pose, something strange happened. Immediately my body began to shake uncontrollably it was as if waves of energy were passing through my body particularly from the waist up, this caused my arms, jaw and lips to shake and muscles in my face to twitch. It was like extreme shivering, it continued on for about 5 minutes, I didn’t fight it in anyway and tried to observe what was happening. It wasn’t unpleasant or scary. I did feel cold afterwards but had not noticed feeling cold before lying down.
    What do you think?

  42. Sharda said,

    Hi Anmol,
I was impressed by your website. You have done a great work by having yoga videos on the web.
I have Asthama and I take Advair daily. I wanted to ask you which pranayam excersises are suitable for me. I started doing Breath Of fire, Bhastrika and Kapalabhati.
But I get exhausted and cannot continue for more than a minute. I take a break and then repeat and I keep on repeating until 15 minutes. Please guide me if this is ok.
    Thanks

    Hi Brendan,

Certainly an experience indicative of energy being released or pathways opening up.

I don’t see anything here which is concerning, but it would be wise to make sure you are not over straining, specially with the Raja Yoga set which is quite advanced. Other than that just keep an eye on how you continue to feel as you make progress.
