This Yoga Meditation technique is one of the most popular and widely practiced meditations in the East.  It is also called Mantra Japa which means Mantra repetition or Mantra chanting.  In this Yoga Meditation you use a mala (bead necklace) to count the Mantra repetitions and do a certain number of cycles daily.  Often times the Mantra which you use for the meditation is given to you by a qualified Guru or teacher, as different Mantras produce different affects.  The final goal of this Yoga Meditation, as is the goal of all Yoga Meditations, is to help you realize your True Divine Nature.  Mantra meditations accomplish this by purifying the mind as well as refining and expanding your awareness.  Mantra meditations are also excellent for building concentration and promoting peace and joy.
