But for how long shud i do these each excercises`? and in how much time can i see results, i mean if am loosing weight. my aim is to loose 8 kilos. can i achieve it through this excerices? does it matter wht i eat and all?

    Ive seen your demonstration on the breathing excercise but am not sure if im doing it right. I also am unable to do it for any length as i get breathless. So i imagine im doing something wrong! Also can only breathing help in weight loss? I read somewhere that it could?!

    Yes it is the breath of fire. I think I have finally got it though! However when I practice the weight loss set. I feel hot about half hour after doing it and soon after that I start sneezing non stop!?

    Hi Gopika,

    Kundalini Yoga starts to open up channels and pathways within us, sometimes leading to these unexpected behaviors or sensations. They normally pass in a short time.

    For the overheating though, please make sure practice in a well ventilated area (use a fan if necessary), sip cool water in between and also take longer breaks. Breath of Fire is certainly going to generate heat within, so don’t overdo it. Build up gently.

    Just discovered your website - wonderful site you’ve got here!!

    Have a question for you - we are planning to try for a baby from Dec of this year, however I am overweight by atleast 30 pds. I was wondering if I can do this weight loss set till I actually get pregnant and ease up once I know for sure. I would like loose as much as I can. I’ve been trying to loose the weight for over 3 years now but due to lack of physical stamina could not continue a sustainable practise for more than a couple of days. We had postponed the decision till I actually lost the weight - which hasnt happened so far.However in the past few months felt lot more energetic and felt like my old self (used to be a high energy person). Hence my decision to go fwd with the baby part.I am nearing 30 and dont want to wait too long either. My husband is 35. Please let me know your thoughts and sorry to hog your comment space.

    I am suffering from osteoarthritis for the past 15 years.I go to the gym regularly and I am regularly practicing pranayam for the past 6 months every day.I am in the normal weight limits.I want to know something about vata diet.I get knee swellings and pain when I eat yoghurt,lime,sour food,beans and chickpeas. so i refrain from eating these foods.Will vata ever become normal again, or its going to be like that throughout my life time. Will practicing pranayam regularly help me out of vata? (I do 16 min of kapalbhati and 16 min of anulomvilom with some other types) Can u suggest an ayurvedic diet for vata.Thank you for your time.

    I suggest the book by Dr Vasant Lad, Ayurveda Home Remedies (I think was the title, if not let me know and I will look it up), which is a very good book for answering your questions and guiding you forward in dealing with your vata aggravation.

    I am suffering from Fibromyalgia. Although Yoga really helps me, the problem is that my body is really stiff in the morning & I can’t get myself to do Yoga in the morning. Can you suggest something for that? Also do you have a video for a guided Yoga workout for 30-60 minutes which would serve as a complete workout to be done everyday.

    Hi Jyoti,

    Sorry to hear of your difficulties. Generally speaking warmth is helpful to get the muscles and joints limbered up in the morning. It is also prudent to start any morning Yoga slowly till the body gets warmed up. Sets like Spinal Warmup Series and Morning Wakeup Series are good for this.

    You can try doing pranayamas first, like Breath of Fire, Kapalbhati or 4 Part Deep Breathing as well, to get the system going before doing the physical yoga.

    I don’t have a dvd yet of a full guided yoga session. Will let you know though when I put one together as I am getting many requests for this.

    There are several good yoga exercises to rebuild one’s leg strength and flexibility. These are on the website just search for them in the search bar on the upper right sidebar.

    Crow Pose for Root Chakra
    Frog Pose for Toned Legs
    Chair Pose for Lower Body Strength
    Forward Bend for Healing
    Butterfly Pose for Meditation

    Try a few of these above, they are all designed to add strength and flexibility to your legs and hips.

Can i perform this asana with breath of fire without any disadvantages for your set of kundalini weight loss exercises (which im performing)? if not, When should i practice it, before, after or during your set of exercises?

    i am 26 years old and i am weighing about 66 kgs. please, tell me that this exercise will help me out for weight loss or not. I have never been indulge in any exercise ever that lead me to put on weight. I am sedantry worker and I want to loose my weight with yoga only.     some 6 months back i had my baby through normal delivery. Due to breaking of stich i could not walk or sit properly till it healed (it took 2-3 months).     I will uploading a video of Sodarshan Chakra Kriya soon too, but try this technique to build your nervous system. Start slowly though and build up gently over time. Here is the article link: Sodarshan Chakra Kriya.
