How Long Do You Meditate For?

Welcome to the second survey here on Mastery of Meditation & Yoga. In our fist survey we asked the readers how often they meditated and received the surprising results that over 90% of you meditated at least one time per week. You will find these results in the following article, Surprising Meditation Survey Results, 90% of You Meditated.

Well now it’s time to find out just how long you do meditate for. So below is that question. How long does your typical meditation session last for? I feel these surveys are not just fun, but also give us insight into the real life practices of our fellow aspirants and hopefully serve to inspire us in our own daily spiritual work.

Please do participate, all responses are of course anonymous…

I don’t meditate daily, but with my spiritual school I meditate a few times per month.

I am fortunate, however, to have great peace of mind most of the time…. which has made it more of a challenge to pursue meditation.

I’m sure if I didn’t feel at peace with myself, I’d be inclined to meditate more often. :)

I found your site a couple of weeks ago, and I love it. I’ve been practicing Kundalini Yoga for almost 2 years. Thanks for all the wonderful articles and information.

Length of meditation is not necessarily important simply the act of doing it is what allows one to put some space between the hectic thoughts of the mind…

My length of meditation varies widely, but I do a mindfulness meditation for 45 minutes once each week. Day to day I meditate anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes depending on what I am doing and how much time I have.

I agree that length of meditation isn’t the most important thing… but I have also used this as an excuse in the past. Brutal self-honesty (and self-acceptance) seems to be required.

    keep smiling,

    ben
