Here are the fascinating results of the most recent survey that we ran on Mastery of Meditation & Yoga.  In that survey we asked fellow meditators what type of meditation technique they favored and practiced.  Here is that question and the choices that were available…

1. What Type of Meditation Do You Practice?

You can read the original survey and the clarifications about each of the techniques here: Survey: What Type of Meditation Technique Do You Practice?

Here are the results…

Survey Results

Value Count Percent %
Breath Awareness Meditation (Zen – Zazen) 23 41.82%
Chakra Meditation 11 20.00%
Mantra Meditation 10 18.18%
Other 6 10.91%
Mind Meditation 5 9.09%

I cannot say that the results really surprise me, as I have often mentioned that Zen Meditation Technique (Zazen) is very effective and also, that this technique forms the basis of my own meditation practice.  This is not at all to say that the other techniques are any less potent.  When it comes to meditation, the key is to be willing to explore all the wonderful wisdom that is out there and find the type that suits you best.

To assist you in that, of course, I have plenty to offer  and here are some articles which detail and instruct you on how to practice these meditation techniques:

Zen Buddhist Meditation Technique

So Hum Mantra Meditation Technique

Rare Crown Chakra Meditation Technique

Third Eye AUM Mantra Chakra Meditation Technique

Kundalini Yoga Third Eye Chakra Meditation Technique

Silent Mind Meditation Technique

You can of course find more techniques in the Free Online Guided Meditation E-Book and also the Learn To Meditate | Beginner’s Meditation free online class might be of interest to you.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this survey and be on the lookout for the next one in the near future.

PS: I more thing I just noticed with regard to the survey results was that of the those who did respond NONE said that they "Do Not Meditate".  I take that a very good sign for our future .

    taiwan culture says:

A cultured man has grown, for culture comes from a word meaning “to grow.” In Buddhism the arahant is the perfect embodiment of culture. He has grown to the apex, to the highest possible limit, of human evolution. He has emptied himself of all selfishness — all greed, hatred, and delusion — and embodies flawless purity and selfless compassionate service. Things of the world do not tempt him, for he is free from the bondage of selfishness and passions. He makes no compromises for the sake of power, individual or collective.
