Advanced Gyan Yoga Technique
The advanced Jyana Yoga (yoga of intelligence and insight) meditation vidoes below are a detailed discussion of the seven steps used by the Silent Mind Meditation Technique to bring about the cessation of thoughts and the explosion of insight. Another videos series will also be uploaded soon, which is a general discussion of this technique, which can be considered the most advanced form of Jyana (Gyan) Yoga and is based on the Advaita Vedanta and Zen Buddhist concepts of nomind, end of knowledge and negation (neti). This technique, as I have pointed out before, is an extension of the work done by J. Krishnamurti and is in my view, the ultimate meditation for Self Realization.
You are going to notice a flurry of activity on Mastery of Meditation and Yoga with regard to meditation, as my long term vision of offering a comprehensive multi-media meditation teacher’s certification program is nearing completion. Although, I don’t expect mastery of the advanced technique described here as necessary for certification, I do feel it is important for authentic meditation teachers to understand this approach and have a feel for what it entails. This technique is ultimately a life long practice of moment to moment awareness.
A great many benefits that meditation bestows can be achieved with more basic techniques, that I have already detailed on the website previously, and of course, knowing them is part of the training program. But to encounter the state of mind described by Sage Patanjali as the still mind or Samadhi, or the Zen state of Satori or Nomind, this technique is the best. Therefore I consider this one of the highest forms of Gyan Yoga.
The Silent Mind Meditation (SM for short) is not really complex. It can be described in one line. Comprehending the mind is action from moment to moment, via direct perception. Even doing it is not complicated, but it requires great energy, awareness and tenacity. In the 2 part video series below, I explain the 7 steps which I wrote about in chapter 12 of the Silent Mind Meditation Program, the Silent Mind Meditations. What I hope, is for you to once catch a glimpse of the "Fact in Action". See the actuality of the beast of desire, the fact of desire. It is mind blowing when you do. And if you can do it even one time, you will realize a human potential that you have to comprehending the fact directly, not just intellectually, and this will open up a new way of observing for you. All us humans have this potential, but very few develop it. Developing it leads to transcendence.
I expect those taking the certification program, or those who are serious about meditation and Self Realization, to have questions about this technique. That is natural and healthy and I feel, since this is perhaps a new approach and subtle in nature, discussing it in many different ways is helpful in deepening your understanding regarding it. Once you understand completely what this technique is all about, you will have understood completely everything there is to understand (see the article Asking the Right Questions for more on this topic). After such understanding, you will have no more questions left. For a Gyan Yogi, mastering this technique and approach, should be the highest goal.
Below is a 2 part series where I am discussing the 7 steps needed to practice this most advanced Gyan Yoga meditation, the Silent Mind Meditation technique. Also, to read how these steps equate to Sage Patanjali’s steps of Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi, please read the following article Most Advanced Mind Meditation Technique. For those who have inquired already about getting certified for teaching meditation, please be on the lookout for the teacher’s training program that will be coming online in the next week or so.
The videos regarding the general discussion of Silent Mind Meditations that I allude to in the videos below, will be uploaded soon as well.

well i think that this meditation is good for some people still is not good for others.
and if u create an intent isn’t that meaning that you want something?

I now understand.
I have used silent mind meditation daily for quite some time without focussing on obstacles. I now know where i am required to go from here thanks to your video. I have not been setting intent and have been dealing with issues as they arise.
This has not hindered the white light effect of this meditation but has not totaly cleared an issue during full consciousness.
Thank you

On Nov 4th I became aware. There is a chain of events that happened that is too long to explain. I am so very aware that I almost lost myself. In fact, I probably lost myself and now I am found. My mind is running so fast, but I realize that it is so powerful that I can also stop it. However, since my mind is jumping all over the place and I see it doing it, I am afraid it will cross to another level. I am avoiding the doctor because they will classify this as some type of disorder when it is not. For example, right now I am sane and I see everybody else is crazy. The crazy people see me as crazy too if they were to hear this. If you go to Google and type in “awareness test” click the link that says Awareness Test for Developing Your Spiritual Mind. It will bring you to this website but under another article. Everything in there is what is happening to me this moment.
Any suggestions before I loose my mind and never get it back? I’m actually controlling it as I write this. Amazing!
Whatever is happening is so powerful that I feel good and evil fighting to win me over. When I realized this awareness in my head, I suddenly felt sensations around me. Maybe it was angels or demons fighting for me. I am fighting the evil away by trying to remain in the present. The most amazing part of this is that I haven’t been to Church in so many years. When somebody asked me what my religion is I tell them I was born Catholic. That was the truth. I’m not saying I found god. What I am saying is that I now believe in Everything. The universe, god, god is the universe, the universe is god. I believe in Plato, Aristotle, and Einstein. I believe in Buddhism. It’s really great. I read a book a year ago that did not make any sense. It was called the Power of Insecurity. Now it makes complete sense!
What now? How do I control it more? Is everything in this website? Patience is so very good. These videos on this website would have been very helpful I am sure, but my computer doesn’t allow them to be played.

Superb points and questions.
1. For intent, yes let there be one desire, one intent. One huge wave, a tsunami, and let it be the only one. Then let it dissolve at the end, after it wipes everything out. This is how it works. For more detail on this important concept, check out the following article where I discussed it in more detail.
Effortless Effort in Zen
2. Suitability: This is a tricky issue and hard to fully explain in a comment. I will put it this way. This highest of meditations should not be caged. So minimum, if any parameters and pre-requisites should be put around them. All should try, for you never know. In life anything is possible.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Best,
Anmol

I would suggest to go slow with this process and ground yourself first. It taking it’s natural course is best and most healthy. You can start with gentle yoga exercises to make the body strong and mind and emotions steady, so that you can better manage the changes taking place within you.
Let us know how it goes.

[…] In the free meditation videos, How to Do Advanced Gyan Yoga Meditation, I detailed the 7 steps for doing the Silent Mind Meditation, which is an advanced mind meditation technique. The primary goal of Gyan Yoga, or the Yoga of High Intelligence, is to have the explosion of insight take place, which brings about the ending of the false and the awakening to the true non-dual nature of Reality. In that article, I mentioned that I was going to continue to discuss this meditation technique in future videos and today I would like to share these videos with you. […]
