Spiritual Vacation Tips

I just rolled back into good old New Jersey late last night after a trip across our Northern border to attend a wedding and give the kids a chance to experience the raw power of nature at Niagara Falls.  So now you know why I was missing in action last week .  It was simply a magnificent vacation and not just because of all the fun we had at Niagara Falls, or all the endless dancing we got to do at the wedding, that would have made it a great trip, but it was a magnificent trip, because I found myself spiritually uplifted and recharged after it.  Today, I would like to share with you some tips on how to make a vacation great for your spiritual dimension as well.

Power of Prayer

Prayer, Kundalini Awakening & Spiritual Growth

Bhakti Yoga & Jyana Yoga (Love vs. Intelligence):

In Kundalini Yoga and Tantra, in general, there are two recognized paths that lead to enlightenment.  There is the path of love and there is the path of intelligence.  In yogic terms these would be Bhakti Yoga and Jyana Yoga respectively.  Individuals, depending on their personality, tend to gravitate towards one or the other path, with the “devotional” types embracing Bhakti Yoga, and the “intellectual” types choosing Jyana Yoga.

How to Attain Enlightenment

Spiritual Enlightenment

Meditation For Enlightenment

Can enlightenment be attained?  Is there something that can be done to bring it about or are you altogether at the mercy of chance and luck?  Do you simply set the stage and wait, or can you be more proactive? In fact, can you be proactive to the point of actually bringing it about?  I think the answer is probably going to surprise some of you.  The answer is both.

Reconnecting with Mother Nature

Oneness with Nature

A very interesting experience transpired today which inspired me to write this article and share with all of you an interesting technique for reconnecting with Mother Nature.

In many articles on Mastery of Meditation & Yoga, including the popular 10 Things to do Daily for a Happy Life, I have indicated the importance of being connected to Mother Nature and feeling a part of this wonderful earth of ours.  In fact, a key aspect of spiritual growth and compassion (see The Secret to Compassion), is to feel that the world is an organic and inseparable part of us.  So to help you towards developing this connection let me relate my experience from this morning.

Zen Teaching of Emptiness & My Encounter With It

Zen Teaching of Emptiness (Shunya)

Zen Teaching of Nothingness

There are no rules when it comes to Enlightenment, but what I have noticed is that awareness shifts out of Duality and into infinite Reality more so during quiet moments when the mind is not heavily occupied with daily activity.  It was just such a scenario that led to the shift which took place most unexpectedly last night.

Yesterday was our seventh wedding anniversary and miraculously we manged to get the kids to bed early, so we could enjoy some private celebrations, as all happy couples ought to on such special occasions.  Eventually, the evening wound down and I found myself with the opportunity to practice my nightly meditation, which I do in bed prior to going to sleep every night.
