Techniques to Raise Kundalini
In the article Kundalini Meditation | The Power of the Energy, I discussed how the awakening of Kundalini takes place in advanced meditation, as the demand for energy in order to watch reality in motion taps into this latent potential. Kundalini awakening and subsequent enlightenment experiences also take place as energy channels open up during meditation and higher states of consciousness are experienced.
One of the great things about running a spiritual blog like this one is that the interactive aspect gives me great insight into how well the various meditations are working for others, and which are facilitating the awakening of kundalini the most. These real life testimonials are from the use of the techniques and exercises available on this website, and in this article I would like to share with you those meditations that are most successful in helping readers break though ordinary dualistic reality and experience the Infinity that lies beyond.
So below please find 4 different meditations which have been working well for readers in terms of helping them experience Kundalini awakening.
Each title below is a link to the article for that pose which has all the details, modifications, practice tips and cautions for that particular technique.
SM and Kundalini Awakening:
This profound and powerful meditation technique is the most advanced form of Gyan Yoga or Zen Meditation. It is for those who are advanced practitioners and committed to Enlightenment. This is the technique that makes up the core of my personal practice as well.
This article has free videos as well to help you understand this technique. As it is an advanced meditation, please be patient with your practice. After all it is designed to Enlighten you completely, so you have to expect to do some hard work.
When doing this meditation, the phase where all the senses are integrated and maximum energy is directed towards awareness and watching the mind, is when kundalini awakening is generally experienced. It will come in various forms, including an elongation of the spine as it is filled with energy, pressure in the skull, tingling in the brain, rushes of energy, etc.
Kirtan Kriya and Kundalini Rising:
There is a very good reason this meditation is considered the Highest Meditation in Kundalini Yoga. It uses the most potent beej (seed) mantra of Kundalini Yoga and despite it’s simple design it is a remarkable meditation. Frankly I am surprised at the pace at which this meditation has been helping yogis achieve breakthroughs and raising kundalini. I would say it is quickly gaining the reputation of being the fastest working Kundalini Yoga Meditation for the awakening of kundalini.
Anuloma Viloma and Awakening of Kundalini:
Here is potentially a surprise entry as this is a yoga breathing exercise and not formally considered a meditation technique. In fact, this breathing exercise is prescribed before meditation to prepare the mind for deeper states of consciousness. But, what I have found from all the feedback I have received is that this technique can very quickly awaken Kundalini Shakti (Energy) and raise your level of consciousness.
Although this technique works very well, specially if you increase your length of practice, I don’t suggest you overdo it as you could prematurely raise Kundalini and create imbalances if your body. In addition, I don’t think your practice should exclusively use Anuloma Viloma Pranayama, as the body should be prepared along with such techniques to handle the energy.
So incorporate this powerful technique into your practice and use it sensibly. Develop your capacity slowly over time and insure you continue to build your body and internal systems in parallel to handle the awakening of Kundalini.
Sodarshan Chakra Kriya and Kundalini:
There is a good reason this meditation is considered one of the most powerful in Kundalini Yoga and along with it’s reputation for bestowing psychic powers, it is known for awakening kundalini and giving one superhuman energy.
If you are new to kundalini yoga and kundalini awakening techniques then I would suggest starting with the beginner’s version of this meditation and working your way forward systematically over time. Like I mentioned above for Anuloma Viloma pranayama as well, preparing the system for handeling kundalini should always be a part of any kundalini awakening program.
