Live Your Own Life

How To Live Your Own Life

To a very large degree your life is probably not of your choosing.  The strong currents of tradition and the pressure of society generally play a big role in determining how your life ends up.  Many people end up following the beaten path, of school, college, career, marriage, children, old age and then, all of a sudden, start wondering how they ended up in their current situation.

The choices you make are limited by those that are offered to you and it is unusual for those that are young to rebel against this pattern and forge a path of their own.  This is specially true in countries which are not as wealthy, as there, survival itself depends on choosing financially rewarding careers, and aligning with tradition.  Really, it is very difficult to break this formula, but thankfully it can be done.

Live Your Own Life

The place to start, with regard to living your own unique life is to ask what I believe is perhaps the most important question of all; What is Living?  Is it the endless pursuit of wealth, security, child raising, a few vacations and then old age and death?  Were you born just for that?  I think it is critically important to pose this question to yourself and contemplate it.

The process of answering this question will most certainly help accomplish the following two things…

1.  It will help you discover your true passion and help you align your life with it.  If you are interested in this topic, I have written about it extensively in the popular article, Stop the Madness of Self-Discipline.

2. It will help answer and put to rest a whole suite of other questions.  What is Death?  What is the purpose to life?  What is the meaning of life?  And perhaps even, What is meditation? What is Enlightenment? Who Am I? etc…

Once you put the question, “What is living?” to yourself, intelligence and courage will most certainly be needed on your part to answer the call.  You have it in you to do this, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.  Living your life the way you see fit is your birthright.  Claim it!

I was thrilled to read this post, because I am in the procces of discovering what my passion is. I recently decided that I was going to take inpsired action and not just do what I felt I should do or needed to do. I woke up and had an inner nudge to start the heart opening class. I did that and I then recived guidance to send a postl, asking about the difference between loving discipline and inspired action. I read this post and the article about the madness of self discipline. Of course I discovered I knew the answer to my own question already, which was proven to me by what happened to today: I listened to my inner quidance (do the yoga) and I took the inspired action (I did the yoga). listened again to the inner quidance (send and email) and I was lead again to more information about finding my passion. This is so cool! Thank you!

Living life to its fullest can only be accomplished with self awareness, knowing who you are and what really matters to you. That’s why meditation is such a great way to get in touch and explore what really matters to you. It is only then that you can define a life that is uniquely your own expression of God.

    Hi Anmol,

I love to read what others write. It holds a lot of fascination and satisfaction for me. But it is not everyday that I am affected profoundly by what is written.

    Many thanks

Of all that you wrote here, I think that one word you said really sums it all up… and it’s a word that most people reading this will probably gloss over, uknowing that it is the fundamental key to what you wrote.

    “Courage”

Just restating it because I felt it was important enough to point out for deeper reflection.
