Yoga and Meditation Stress Management Program Participation Guidelines

Following are the guidelines which I suggest we follow…

  • Please post all comments, questions and feedback in the comments section of this post.  This way all will benefit from the discussion.  Feel free to ask questions or discuss issues, as that is one of the main reasons for this particular class format.  Of course, you are free to email me as well if you would like the discussion to not be public.
  • If you like, you can indicate with a comment that you have completed your daily session.  Could be as short as “did it”, or of course could be questions, issues or more detailed feedback.  The hardest part with a daily yoga and exercise practice is establishing consistency and regularity and I think having to acknowledge that you completed your daily practice will help in facilitating that.  In addition, your comments will inspire others as well.
  • Before starting your daily yoga session, take a moment and tune in to your higher self for guidance and protection.  At the end of every session, visualize yourself and the world as you would like it to be.
  • Do the best you can and modify the techniques as required.  It is more important to do something, than be overwhelmed and not do anything at all.
  • I wish you all a wonderful learning and transforming experience and hope this program really helps you de stress and find peace.
  • Below, in the related articles and series sections you will find other free yoga and meditation classes; feel free to take advantage of them.
  • If you are interested in a more structured and fully supported yoga program you may wish to sign up for my popular Learn Yoga Online Course.

Free Online Advanced Meditation Class Syllabus:

The following describes the 2 sections comprising the 40-60 minute daily breathing and meditation session for this class.  Each breathing exercise and meditation technique below is a link to the article with all the details you need.

Each day do the following…

Section 1: Yogic Breathing Section

Total time 1-11 Minutes.

  • Supreme Yogic Breath for Brain Development and Mind Control:  Supreme Yogic Breath or 1 Minute Breathing is excellent for helping you settle the mind down and prepare it for meditation.  This is an advanced breathing exercise and should not be practiced by beginners.  If you are a beginner please do the modified versions of this technique.  Start with 5 seconds and build up slowly to the full 20 second cycle.

Section 2: Meditation Section:

Total time 30-55 minutes.

Please note that at least 30 minutes is recommended to give this meditation a chance to work for you, so you need to be able to sit still for that amount of time for this class.

  • Silent Mind Mediation Technique:  After you complete your breathing exercise, you should feel your mind calmer and more steady.  Then begin the meditation practice.  Since Silent Mind Meditation requires you to comprehend your thoughts from moment to moment, it is easier to do after the mind calms down a bit.  So if you have a more basic meditation which helps you do this further, such as Mantra Meditation or Breath Meditation (Zazen), go ahead and use that for the first 5-10 minutes of your meditation session, until you are ready to attack the thinking mind with SM. Do read the details of the SM technique from the articles and watch the required meditation videos as well.  Understanding what is required of you is essential if you are to master this advanced technique. Please note that SM is not easy to do, after all this is an advanced meditation class.  It is not complex, but it is arduous.  So be prepared to give it your all.  The most important thing is to give it your best each time to you sit to meditate.  The thing about meditation, is that even if you don’t see the results right away, it is still transforming you slowly and over time you will find yourself happier, healthier and more in touch with your true self and Divinity.  If you are passionate, breakthroughs will come.

Free Online Advanced Meditation Class Guidelines:

Following are the guidelines which I suggest to follow…

  • Please post all comments, questions and feedback in the comments section of this post.  This way all will benefit from the discussion.  Feel free to ask questions or discuss issues, as that is one of the main reasons for this particular class format.  Of course, you are free to email me as well if you would like the discussion to not be public.
  • I wish you all a wonderful learning and transforming experience.  Practicing Meditation is without a doubt the single greatest factor in helping you discover your True Self and live your life at your Highest Potential.  If you have any doubt about whether or not to start such a meditation practice, just go ahead and review the benefits section above.  That should be more than enough to inspire you to jump in.

Holistic Techniques for Healthy Brain Function

Continuing with our Yoga exercises for the month series, I would like us to do some brain fitness and brain development exercises for the month of May together.  Needless to say the brain is one of the most important organs we have and really it is the key, to not just a successful life in manifestation, but is also the key for awakening to the Reality that lies beyond duality.

For brain fitness, proper exercise, diet and rest are essential, but in addition, certain techniques can be instrumental in helping keep the brain healthy and fit throughout life.  So for the yoga practice for May I would like to suggest a particular yoga pose, pranayama and meditation, which are known to be excellent for brain fitness, function and health.

Brain Exercises

These techniques come from the following 3 free online e-books here on Mastery of Meditation and Yoga.  These are the Free Online Kundalini Yoga Exercises E-book, the Free Online Guided Meditation Techniques E-book and the Free Online Yoga Breathing Exercises E-book.  Feel free to check them out for more great exercises and meditation to keep you healthy and fit.

For those who are new to the blog, each month we practice together a particular yoga exercise, pranayama technique and meditation, in order to enhance our skills and learn from each other.  We share our experiences in the comments section below as well.  So do join us.  The more the merrier.

Below you will find all the exercises and meditations that we have practiced so far in this Yoga for the Month Series.  Following that is the brain enhancing techniques for May.  If you have room to enhance your current yoga and meditation practice, and are eager to get your brain in shape, then please go ahead and add these exercises to your routine.

Yoga Exercise for Brain Fitness:

One important dimension of yoga exercises is inversions and of the inversions, one of the best poses is shoulder stand.  This exercise is great for the brain as it brings oxygen rich blood to this region helping it rejuvenate and heal.  The pose has other benefits as well, such as realigning the organs displaced by gravity and promoting peace and calm. You can read all the details about this pose in the article, Yoga Exercise for Brain Fitness.

I am quite curious as to how this pose affects people, so do provide your feedback if you try it.  Also, please don’t overdo this pose and be careful of you neck.  Also, start off with less than a minute and build up slowly to 5 minutes max per day (unless you are in a supervised environment).

Shoulder Stand for Brain Fitness

Supreme Yogic Breath for Brain Development:

Yoga breathing exercises are generally great for overall brain health, but of these there is one that especially stands out and that is Supreme Yogic 1 Minute Breath.  This is an advanced pranayama so I want to ensure that you don’t try the full version right away, but instead build up to the 20/20/20 seconds pattern slowly over time.

This breathing exercise will also be key to helping you with meditation, which is being confirmed as excellent for the brain by recent scientific research, and this pranayama is also great for giving you control of your mind and thoughts, as well as overcoming fear and stress.  Needless to say, this pranayama is great for brain function and brain health.

Silent Mind Meditation for Brain Excellence:

As I mentioned above meditation is excellent for the brain.  It actually increases the thickness of the prefrontal cortex and also increases blood flow to the brain, and subjectively you will notice a great improvement of brain function, memory and intelligence.  The meditation research can be found in the article, Brain Health Benefits Making the News, and this research has generally been carried out on monks and yogis who either practice Mantra Meditation (ex: So Hum Mantra Meditation or Breath Awareness Meditation (Zen Meditation Technique).

So of course you can pick one of those 2 techniques above, but I would like to suggest a more advanced meditation technique instead for our practice for this month and that is the Silent Mind Meditation Technique

One major reason that brain function and health deteriorates with age is due to the incessant chattering that goes on all the time in our minds.  This constant thinking, worrying, dreaming wears out the brain over time as it is constant friction within.  For this reason the state of awareness without thoughts, or a silent brain is an amazing tonic for the brain.  In this silence the brain is able to rejuvenate and heal itself.  In this silence it grows and develops.  The Silent Mind Meditation Technique will help you move towards this unearthly silence.

Furthermore, the Silent Mind technique, hones and chisels the entire analytic and retrieval system of the brain, therefore significantly improving brain function and intelligence.  It works.  The hard part is just getting down to doing the practice.

So for this month, lets give our brain some much deserved attention and love, and please do provide any feedback from the exercises and techniques above, so others can benefit from your experiences as well.

Easy Meditation Technique for Total Stress Relief | Shabd Kriya

Simple Meditation Technique

Shabd Kriya – Kundalini Yoga Meditation

It has been some time since we added a core Kundalini Yoga Meditation to our collection and to end that drought, today I will detail for you Shabd Kriya, which is a nice easy meditation technique for helping you relieve stress and relax.  This meditation will join other powerful meditations from Kundalini Yoga such as Sodarshan Chakra Meditation, Infinite Energy and Prosperity Meditation Technique and Tantric Sat Kriya for Transmuting Sexual Energy, that are already part of the website and can be found in the Free Online Kundalini Yoga Meditation E-book.

These meditation techniques were taught to me by Ravi Singh, in my Teacher’s Training Class and were taught to him by Yogi Bajan.  I thank both of them, and the masters before, for passing on this wisdom to us so we can all benefit and grow using it.

Simple Meditation Technique

Easy Meditation Technique – Shabd Kriya Overview

Although Shabd Kriya is quite an easy meditation technique, it does use many powerful aspects of Kundalini Yoga to bestow it’s many benefits.  These mechanisms include, the power of mantras, hand and eye positions (mudras), mind power, naad yoga (yoga of sound), pranayama and more.  In particular, it’s use of pranayama is the main reason for any cautions, for anytime you are going to look to manipulate and control your breathing, you need to make sure you are not over straining or over doing it.

The following 2 documents will give you the necessary guidelines to practice this meditation technique safely and successfully, please do follow them:  Beginner’s Guide to Yoga Practice and Guidelines for Kundalini Yoga Practice.

DIRECT YOUTUBE LINK –> MEDITATION FOR STRESS RELIEF

Benefits of Shabd Kriya – Easy Mediation Technique:

  1. Excellent meditation for stress relief and relaxation.
  2. Helps the body rejuvenate and regenerate.
  3. Helps build mental focus and concentration.
  4. Excellent meditation to promote sound sleep, especially if done before going to bed.  This meditation is often a part of sets designed to help you fight insomnia and restless sleep.

Design of Shabd Meditation Technique:

  • This meditation utilizes 2 fundamental mantras from Kundalini Yoga.  It uses the Sa Ta Na Ma Mantra and the Wahey Guru Mantra.  Sa Ta Na Ma meaning Existence, Life, Death and Rebirth and Wahey Guru meaning, Ecstasy Beyond Words.  You will find a nice Wahey Guru Hymm to help you with the pronunciation in the following free MP3.

Wahey Guru Serenity Hymm Free MP3 Download

  • This meditation also uses a variation of Cosmic Mudra, which is explained in the “How To Do” section below.
  • Finally, Shabd Kriya uses Nasikagra Drishti (nose tip gazing) and Pranayama as well, as explained below.

How to Do Shabd Kriya – Easy Meditation Technique:

  • Sit in any cross legged posture.  You can also do this meditation sitting on a chair.
  • Elongate your spine and tuck your chin in slightly (like a soldier at attention).
  • Place your hands in Cosmic Mudra with your Left Hand Underneath and Right Hand on Top.  The Thumb Tips should be meeting, but the only difference is that they should be a little more forward than up.  You will find an illustration of traditional Cosmic Mudra in the following article, just modify it slightly as I have mentioned above.

    How to Meditate

  • Have your eyes 1/10th open looking down at the tip of your nose.  Only hold this eye position for as long as is comfortable.  Release it whenever necessary and continue with the meditation, reapplying it once ready.
  • Now begin the following Breath/Mantra Cycle.  Inhale in 4 equal parts.  By the fourth inhalation your lungs should be full.  As you inhale chant SA TA NA MA mentally.  So you inhale to a total count of 4.  In total, one chant of SA TA NA MA during one inhalation broken up into 4 parts. Next, hold your breath in and chant SA TA NA MA 4 times slowly mentally.  So you hold your breath in and use the 4 cycles of SA TA NA MA to complete a count of 16 Finally, exhale in 2 parts, which chanting Wahey Guru mentally.  So you exhale to a count of 2.

  • All counting should be slow.  All chanting should be mental and the breathing cycle should be 4/16/2.  4 counts to inhale, 16 count breath retention and 2 count exhalation.  Please note if holding the breath in for 16 counts is too much, cut it down to 8 and build up slowly.  Do not over strain.  With all breath retention progress should be gentle and systematic.
  • Continue the above mantra/breathing pattern for the duration of the meditation, which should be typically 11 minutes and built up to 31 minutes over time.  If you are just starting out even 3 minutes is fine.

Summary of Simple Meditation Technique – Shabd Kriya:

This meditation is very good for inducing deep relaxation and helps the entire body de-stress and de- compress.  Thus, it is great for doing before sleep and to fight insomnia.  For more free easy meditations and yoga sets be sure to check out the Free Online Guided Meditation Techniques E-book and the Free Illustrated Kundalini Yoga Kriyas E-Book as well.

Daily Meditation Practice For February | Find Joy, Peace and Happiness

Daily Meditation Practice

Meditations for Spiritual Practice

As part of the expansion to the “Yoga Asana for the Month Series”, I mentioned we are now also going to include a Daily Meditation for the Month and a Yoga Breathing Exercise for the month.  In the article, Daily Yoga Exercise for February, I suggested we all include Cobra Pose into our routine and in this article today, I will suggest a great meditation technique for our daily spiritual work for February.

For those unfamiliar with this “Yoga and Meditation Technique for the Month” series, essentially, the idea is for all of us to include some great exercises and techniques into our daily practice and then to report back our thoughts and feedback regarding them throughout the month.  The goal is to learn from each other, develop our ability to do these techniques better and enjoy the benefits that daily practice brings.

Meditations for Spiritual Practice

Below are all the Yoga exercises we have done together so far and now we will be adding meditations and pranayamas to this list as well.

August:        Learn Yoga | Nauk Asana for the Month (Abs)

September:  Yoga Pose for Thighs – Frog Pose (Thighs/Butt)

October:      Important Hatha Yoga Posture for Healing – Forward Bend (Thighs/Buttocks)

November:   Yoga to Work on Your Aura (Aura and Magnetic Field)

December:   Kundalini Yoga Exercise for Emotional Health – Cat-Cow  (Back and Emotional Balance)

February Yoga:  Yoga Cobra Pose for Everyday Practice | Heal Your Back

Daily Meditation for February:

Originally I was thinking of starting out this new dimension with one of the most popular meditations on the planet today, Zen Meditation Technique, but I have instead decided to go with So Hum Mantra Meditation.  This is primarily because I have been getting a lot of great feedback regarding this meditation and also, since this meditation is excellent for promoting joy and peace, I thought we could use some more of that during these challenging times .

So the meditation for daily practice for February is going to be So Hum Mantra Meditation.  Below are the links you need for this technique and some thoughts on it.

Benefits of Daily Meditation Practice:

Here is the link to the chapter with all the details on So Hum Meditation: SO HUM MANTRA MEDITATION TECHNIQUE.  A great deal of scientific research has been done on Mantra Meditations and I have listed some of the highlights of this research in the article Health Benefits of Meditation.  In case you need some motivation here are some of the incredible findings…

  • Significant reduction in anxiety and stress.  Verified by changes in brain activity centers.
  • 200% increase in blood flow to the brain region, and significant reduction in blood pressure and cholesterol.
  • 50% less doctor visits. 55% fewer tumors and reduction in infectious diseases as well.
  • Reduction in Chronic Pain, 75% improvement with Insomnia and Increased Intelligence, Awareness and Concentration.
  • There are many more benefits listed in that article and also in the article Top 10 Benefits of Meditation, so head on over if you still need more motivation .

So Hum Meditation Video for Daily Practice:

The chapter I linked to above has all the details including a video demonstration of So Hum.  For convenience I have included this video below as well.  Please note if you ever have problems viewing the meditation videos from the blog, you can view them directly from my YouTube channel.  Also, if you want to be notified whenever I publish a new video you can subscribe to my YouTube channel, as I upload all my videos there.

Inviting God Consciousness In | Ong Namo Mantra MP3

God Consciousness

Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo Mantra

We cannot be reminded enough that everything is God Consciousness.  Everything is God.  Upon this substratum then, the game of life is played out.  The problem with forgetting the substratum, forgetting God, forgetting the One Consciousness, is that then everything leads to attachment and misery.  There are many ways in which the great Masters have tried to impart this wisdom to us, many ways in which they have tried to stress the importance of this upon us, but unfortunately we get caught up in the drama of our little lives, and forget God.

God Consciousness

J. Krishnamurti on God Consciousness:

In the article, J. Krishnamurti on the Flowering of Goodness, Krishnamurti puts the importance of God a little differently by saying, “In consciousness there is the good and the bad; the bad is increasing; it is increasing because the good has become static, the good is not flowering.”  And he goes on to explain that “bad”, is anything that gives importance to the ego, and that this flowering of Goodness is the practice of Awareness.  This practice of awareness is another way of saying remember God Consciousness, remember you are the Great Witnessing, you are the Great Silence, Infinite, Endless and Timeless, and when you loose this Witnessing Consciousness, you are lost in the world of the ego, mind and dualism.

Shunryu Suzuki on God Consciousness:

Another unlikely master to speak about the importance of God and God Consciousness is Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki.  Yes, a Zen master supposedly from a religion, Buddhism, which does not acknowledge God, explaining that remembering God at all times, is the key to freedom and non-attachment.  In the article, Zen Teachings on God and How to Get His Help, Master Suzuki explains that as soon as we start to take credit and emphasize our egos, forgetting that everything comes from God, we are lost.  The key, he points out, is to remember that you and everything else emerges from the great One Consciousness, the great Void, and that if you forget this and think you are creating/doing and not the great Consciousness, then you will find yourself attached and suffering.  So, always remember God first, always remember that everything is coming from there, then you will not get yourself caught in the trap of the ego.

Master Suzuki goes on to explain, that because we forget God, forget the Source Consciousness, the substratum from which everything springs, we don’t have It’s help in our life.  So in order to get God, Infinity to help, you need to remember it is as the Source of All.  Then you are protected, guided and inspired by It.  Then you are helped by It, as It is an integral part of your every action.

How to Invite God Consciousness In:

In Kundalini Yoga there is a mantra that is used to help with this remembering, and that is the Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo mantra, the Adi Mantra.  It is the mantra used for “Tuning In”, and in the following 2 articles, How to Teach a Yoga Class and AUM Mantra Video for Starting a Yoga Class, I pointed out that all yoga should begin with an acknowledgment of God.  In Kundalini Yoga practice, this is the mantra that is used for that purpose.

Here is the translation and meaning of Ong Namo, Guru Dev Namo.

  • Ong– Ong is God manifested.  It is an invitation to the un-manifested God Consciousness (OM) to enter manifestation.  With OM (AUM) we ascend into infinity, with ONG we ask Infinity to descend onto us.
  • Namo– I bow to you humbly.
  • Guru Dev– Your divine consciousness, your inner wisdom or inner teacher.
  • Namo – I bow to you humbly.

Ong Namo, Guru Dev Namo, is typically recited 3 times before the start of class, and by chanting it we are remembering God as the Source of everything, and asking the help of God Consciousness in the form of protection, guidance and inspiration.  I have also pointed out the importance of Awareness, or maintaining God Consciousness when practicing yoga, and maintaining this awareness is the key to preventing the ego from taking over any activity and deriving importance from it.  You can read about this very important aspect of yoga in the following article, Essential Beginner’s Guide to Yoga Practice.

How to Chant Ong Namo Guru Dev Mantra:

  • Sit up with your eyes closed and back straight.
  • Have your hands in prayer pose, with the thumb tips pressing against the sternum.
  • Turn your eyes up so you are looking through the center of forehead, the Third Eye Center.

Serenity Prayer – Free MP3 Download of the Beautiful Wahey Guru Hymm

Prayer for Tranquility

Serenity Hymm Free MP3 Download

At the completion of my Kundalini Yoga teacher’s training program, my teacher Ravi Singh held a yoga camp which I attended with my wife.  The entire camp was great, but one evening stood out more than others.  The camp was held in a peaceful resort tucked away in the hills of upstate New York, and one lovely, quiet evening a few of us gathered around a campfire to enjoy some music and hymms.

My wife volunteered to sing a serenity prayer, and a fellow yogi provided the music using a one string instrument (Ektara).  She sang for us all the Wahey Guru hymm, and the atmosphere it created was marvelously tranquil, prayerful and joyful.  This prayer uses the Wahey Guru mantra, which essentially means Ecstasy Beyond Words, and it is a key mantra in Kundalini Yoga and the Sikh faith.

Serenity Prayer

That was not the only occasion where this Wahey Guru prayer created a stir.  On another occasion, we were visiting the wonderful Ananada Ashram, also in upstate New York, and during the evening kritan (prayer singing), Trupti again recited this hymm and just like before, it captivated all the listeners and created an environment full of calmness, peace and love.  So I have got her to sing this wonderful hymm for you all as well, so that you too can enjoy the feelings of peace and tranquility this prayer creates.  Below you will find the link to download the MP3 for this prayer for free.

Also, there are several meditations on Mastery of Meditation and Yoga, which use the WaheyGuru (aka Wahay Guru, Wa Hey Guru) mantra, and this MP3 will also give you the right pronunciation for this important mantra.  The meditations that use this mantra are the most popular Sodarshan Chakra Kriya, explained in the article 3 Most Powerful Pranayamas and Kriyas as well as the Doei Ashtopad Japa, detailed in the article Kundalini Yoga Meditation for Healing and Psychic Powers

Please download the prayer to your computer and then enjoy.  To download the MP3, RIGHT click the link below choose “Save Link As…” or “Save Target As…” depending on your browser, and it save it to your computer.

Benefits of Pranayama Using Free Tools

Saaleha Says:

I want to express my gratitude to you for the work you have taken on and the inspiration you are giving to people all over the world. I am just one recipient of your wonderful lessons and words of wisdom. I receive your newsletter often just as I am falling off the wagon and being in contact with you brings me back to the realisation of why I am here in the first place. May you always stay blessed.

Last weekend I was involved in a car accident which resulted in my having surgery to both hands. The day before I had just read about the calming breath exercise. I can assure you that the breathing techniques you have shared with me have assisted me in coping with the undignified circumstances that I find myself in now. It has even helped with the pain management. The most remarkable thing is that I don’t feel like a victim and don’t feel sorry for myself, like I used to before, when anything bad happened to me. I find ways and means of helping myself, hence this mail typed to you, using my index finger.

My yoga exercise has to be put on hold for a while as my foot is also in plaster. In the meantime I will practice breathing.

Love to you and your family from South Africa

Dagmar Says: (BOF is Kundalini Yoga Breath of Fire)

I started practicing BOF on Feb 1st (tried many times before, but always got frustrated and gave up). In the beginning I could do it for 30 sec. It was hard, I would get hot and sweaty. It took me 41 days to get to 5 min. Than it became easier. I got to 11 min, and … what a difference, what a feeling!

This morning during BOF, as I could feel the energy moving in my body, around my body, and on the top of my head (?!), I did not want to stop. INCREDIBLE FEELING! I did BOF for 13 min; after I stopped (as I was sitting motionless), I still could feel the energy moving for some time. AWESOME!

Raj Says: (The exercises below are primarily pranayamas, although some are an advanced form).

I have been practicing yoga for the last three months in the order of

1. Anuloma Viloma Pranayama
2. Third eye opening and balancing
3. Breathing of fire.
4. Kundalini Awakening Raja Yoga Kriya.

It makes me a joyful person and not to worry about any problems.

Alka Says:

I live in a small town in India. I am meditating for the past few years. I wished to add Yoga to my routine. It took me few hours to read the instructions and watch videos from Pranayama e-book. On day 1 I did all the 9 Pranayama exercises 1-2 minutes each. The result: I felt surrounded by peace, beauty and joy. I woke up with high energy levels next morning. The instructions are precise and wonderful. Thank you for sharing this valuable information with us.

Anonymous Says: (Sodarshan Chakra Kriya is one of the most powerful Yoga Pranayamas)

It’s a great relief that you have posted such a powerful meditation (sodarshan chakra kriya), because I am a very depressed person and with very weak character.

Since one week I am doing the Advanced Sodarshan Chakra Kriya everyday for 93 minutes and since I am doing this meditation I am feeling very strong physically and my character is changing.  I am gaining more self-confidence, willpower and control over my emotions.

Normally I do this meditation in the afternoon for 62 minutes continuously and 31 minutes in the evening.

John Says:

Today i was having trouble with restless thoughts and unable to get out of my head. I did the heart chakra opening yoga set you prescribed and feel so much better tonight. I also did some Kapalbhati (pranayama). Perhaps that helped also.

Looking to reduce stress and treat your anxiety disorder?  Well you could not have come to a better place for doing just that .   A large study just completed at the University of West Virginia concluded that one of the best treatment for treating stress and anxiety is the combination of meditation, yoga and breathing exercises!  They might as well have just said, that the best treatment for stress and anxiety is to regularly visit Mastery of Meditation & Yoga and practice the free techniques that are available there .

Specifically, the study looked at how effective mindfulness (being in the present) was to the reduction of everyday and workplace stress.  In doing so, the research also looked at which were the best techniques for cultivating such mindfulness and found that answer to be, meditation, yoga and breathing exercises.  The research showed that living mindfully, and using these techniques, drastically helped reduce stress, and cure anxiety problems as well.  Here are some of the amazing health benefits reported by the research.

Stress and Anxiety Disorder

Stress, Anxiety and More Treated by Mindfulness Technique:

  • Reduced Stress
  • Treated Anxiety Disorder
  • Improved functioning of Internal Systems (Digestive, Immune, Nervous, etc) and better overall health
  • Reduced Blood Pressure
  • Spontaneously cured physical disorders
  • Better Pain Management
  • Relaxed & Calmed the mind
  • Led to higher levels of happiness and peace

How Stress & Anxiety Were Treated:

In this study the participants were required to practice and learn mindfulness techniques and incorporate them into their life for a period of eight weeks.  This is of course not the first study into the health benefits of meditation and yoga, and also, we know that the benefits of these sciences extends far beyond just the treatment of stress and anxiety.  Two articles right here on the website detail other research that have also indicated the marvelous benefits of these sciences (Brain Health Benefits of Meditation and Amazing Benefits of Meditation for Young People & Students).  To enjoy such benefits, it is necessary to learn and practice these techniques though and a 2 month period is a pretty good time frame for that.

Above I mentioned that this website is full of techniques which will help you develop exactly what the research indicated to treat stress and help with anxiety disorders, so let me point out the best of these techniques for you now.

Best Meditation Technique to Treat Stress & Anxiety:

At the heart of mindful living lies the practice of meditation, and the very best meditation to develop mindfulness is Zen Meditation.  Mindfulness comes from the teaching of the Buddha, and this is Buddha’s meditation.  So to drastically reduce stress and fight anxiety, establish a 20 minute daily practice of this meditation.  In fact, for the purpose of anxiety and stress reduction, treat meditation like a therapy, for that is exactly what it is if you are suffering from these disorders.  And just as you would not skip an important treatment for a disease you are inflicted with, similarly, don’t skip your meditation therapy session either .

Here is a detailed article which will teach you this technique and has a video instructions and demonstrations as well.

Zen Meditation for Treating Stress & Anxiety Disorder

Best Breathing Exercise for Treating Stress & Anxiety:

Breathing techniques are wonderful therapies for treating stress and anxiety as well, and the one technique that has been known through the ages to help with these 2 disorders is Alternate Nostril Breathing.  So if you are really serious about reducing stress in your life, and eliminating all it’s harmful affects, include this technique into your treatment program is a must.  In addition, you will find a drastic reduction is anxiety as well, with the small added bonus of significant spiritual growth .

Here is a video instruction and demonstration of this technique along with details on how to practice it safely and effectively.

Best Yoga Pose for Reducing Stress & Anxiety:

In the Beginner’s Guide to Yoga Practice, I stressed the importance of awareness when doing your practice, and this awareness is key to building mindfulness and the ability to live in the present.  So in general, all yoga done correctly is going to be good for you, but I want to point out a few poses that I feel will be especially effective for stress and anxiety reduction.

The titles are links to the articles which have the details you need.

1. Corpse Pose for Relaxation & Stress Reduction:

Of course, corpse pose is yoga’s answer to stress and anxiety.  It is an excellent pose with which to relax the entire mind/body complex and dissolve stress from your system.  The ability of this pose to generate tranquility, calmness and relaxation for the mind and body are unsurpassed.  So certainly include this exercise into your treatment program.  It can be done individually, or as part of a set.

2. Relaxation Meditation for Immediate Stress Reduction:

Another great technique for immediate stress reduction comes from the school of Kundalini Yoga and is called Relaxation Meditation Technique.  This is a simple and effective treatment to help you deal with anxiety, panic attacks and stress.  The article includes a video demonstration of this neat little technique.

Here is the video for this Relaxation Meditation Technique:

Free Guide for Psychic Readers & Clairvoyants

Welcome to the free comprehensive guide for psychic readers and clairvoyants to develop their psychic powers and abilities.  This guide is the combined document from the 2 part series on Developing Psychic Powers and has been created for ease of bookmarking and linking.  Here are the links to the original articles of this series: 4 Free Online Psychic & Development Techniques & Patanjali’s Samyama | Best Tool for Psychic Development.

Psychic & Clairvoyant Powers

Below you will find the contents of part 1 and part 2 combined.

(Part 1)

Free Tools for Psychics & Psychic Readers

Free Online Techniques for Psychic Abilities & Clairvoyance

Recently I have received a great deal of requests regarding the development of psychic powers and psychic abilities.  Some, I imagine are from psychics and clairvoyants looking to enhance their abilities for professional reasons, while others are form those curious about psychic powers and yoga siddhis.  Although, I suggest you don’t get overly attached to the acquisition of such paranormal and clairvoyant powers, the topic is certainly fascinating and one that is undoubtedly best understood by the science of yoga.

I have written previously about the Right Approach to the Development of Psychic Powers, so I suggest reading that article to understand how to avoid getting distracted by yoga siddhis (powers) on your road to enlightenment.  That article also discusses the right use of such powers.

In this series I am going to provide the science behind the acquisition of clairvoyant, paranormal and psychic abilities.  These abilities are used quite a bit now by those offering a wide range of psychic services, both for free and as a profession.  Those offering psychic readings, whether online, over the phone or in person, psychic predictions, psychic advise, psychic mediums, etc, etc, all rely on the application of specifically such clairvoyant powers in some degree or another.

Does Psychic & Clairvoyant Phenomenon Exist?

Although I really doubt that there are so many master psychics running around doing psychic chat readings, being online love gurus, doing phone readings, etc, in yogic literature there is ample evidence of the existence and successful acquisition of psychic powers.  In addition, when enlightened masters of the caliber of a J. Krishnamurti, whose approach is absolutely intelligent, pure and unemotional, hints at events and situations that can only have paranormal explanations, it gets very difficult to reject the existence of such phenomenon.  Also, there are the accounts of readers who have acquired psychic healing abilities, and clairvoyance via the techniques that I have previously published.  Finally, I have am own encounters with the paranormal, some of which I will go into in this series as well.  So, no doubt such powers exist and can be acquired, so let’s delve into the exercises and methods which help in the development of such psychic energy.

Definition of a Clairvoyance:

The techniques I will provide in this article series are mostly for the development of the psychic power of clairvoyance.  In other articles I will provide yogic and other techniques for the development of other psychic powers.

What is Clairvoyance? It is primarily the power used by psychic readers, psychic advisers, psychic predictors and such.  Clairvoyance is technically the power to see clearly.  In the context of psychic phenomenon, it is the power to see without or beyond the use of the ordinary senses.  So the power to see far away both in time and distance, the power of sensitivity beyond the ordinary range of perception, and the power of keen intuition are all abilities that come under the umbrella of clairvoyance.

4 Free Techniques for Psychics & Clairvoyants:

1. AUM Mantra Meditation Technique:

As I explained above, clairvoyance is the ability to see without or beyond the normal eye, and another way to define it, is that it is the ability to see with the astral eye.  The astral eye, or Third Eye is the Sixth Chakra of the Kundalini Yoga System.  You can get more information about the chakra system in the following two articles: Kundalini Yoga Seven Chakra System & Analyze, Heal and Balance Your Chakras.  Essentially, opening the Third Eye gives birth to the power of Clairvoyance and Intuitive Knowledge.  Or put another way, it gives one the power to see the unseen and know the unknown.

The following article describes in detail a powerful technique with which to open the Third Eye. The article includes a video demonstration along with guidelines to help you practice this technique safely and successfully.  So if you are a practicing psychic looking to enhance your powers of clairvoyance and intuition, or if you are generally interested in exploring psychic abilities, then this technique is certainly worth exploring.

2-4. Samyama Techniques for Clairvoyance by Sage Patanjali:

In the next part of the series I will go into the famous Yoga Sutras of Sage Patanjali and explain what Samyama is, and how psychics can use it specifically to develop their powers of clairvoyance and intuitive readings.

If you are interested in a Numerology & Master Numbers reading, which incorporates intuition, but is mathematically based on your date of birth and the 10 Bodies of Light Yoga Model, you can request one here: 10 Bodies of Light Yoga Numerology Reading.

Sage Patanjali’s Samyama Explained

Tools for Psychic Readers & Clairvoyants

The title for this post should actually read, #1 Tool for the Development of Psychic Powers period.  In other words, not only is samyama the key to the development of clairvoyance, the basic ability used by psychic readers, psychic mediums, intuitives, clairvoyants, etc, it is also the key to the acquisition of any psychic ability.  Samyama is a term that comes from Sage Patanjali’s famous Yoga Sutras and there he describes in detail which psychic abilities (yoga siddhis) can be attained via the practice of samyama.  Before I go ahead and explain samyama and how to use it to develop psychic powers though, I would first like to iterate an important point I also made in part 1 of this series.

In part 1, 4 Free Online Psychic & Clairvoyant Development Tools, I indicated that the acquisition of psychic powers as a primary goal in life, servers as nothing more than a distraction from the work you are actually here to do, which is Self Realization.  So be warned that attachment to psychic powers and their use for ego enhancement or other material gain, just means more bondage to the world of duality and delusion.  Please note that this does not mean that psychic powers in and of themselves are bad or negative, it just means that attachment to them or exclusive pursuit of them, is not the purpose of life and can easily turn into another obstacle for you.  I have gone over this is more detail in the following article as well – The Right Way to Acquire Psychic Powers.

Patanjali’s Samyama Explained:

In Sage Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, samyama is described as the concurrent practice of the finals 3 aspects of Raja Yoga.  For more details on Raja Yoga and the 8 Limbs of Yoga, please read Introduction to the Universal Principles of Yoga.  Samyama, thus is the simultaneous application of Dharana, Dhayana & Samadhi, towards an object of attention.

Individually, these three states mean the following.  Dharana meaning concentration, Dhayana meaning meditation and Samadhi meaning non-dual absorption.  So samyama is the practice of these 3 actions together.

With regard to the development of psychic energy and specific psychic powers, samyama is the practice of these 3 actions directed towards a particular object.  The object of samyama then determines the powers acquired, as that object then reveals it’s secrets to the practitioner or mastery is gained over the realm which that object rules over.  For the purpose of this series, I will detail the objects for samyama specifically useful to psychic readers, clairvoyants, spiritual mediums, etc.  And in the future, if there is interest, I will detail how to practice samyama for other paranormal powers.

Before I go into where to place your attention for developing or enhancing clairvoyance, I want to first give you a nice way to understand samyama better, as that is the key to psychic development in the first place.

Understanding Samyama Practice:

For astute readers, the Zen Story – Beauty & the Art of Meditation, is giving an example of what samyama is.  In that story Zen monk Tara performs samyama on the tree.  She concentrates on it (dharana), gives her continuous unbroken attention to it (dhayana) and finally hears the story from the tree itself, when she merges with it (samadhi).  So this is one way to practice samyama.  You can also do so with a flower.

Concentrate on the flower, allow your mind to be fully involved with the flower at all levels first.  Then let this concentration deepen to where other thoughts are no longer interfering with your attention towards the flower, and finally lose yourself to the actuality of the flower completely.

My early experience with samyama, came during walking meditation.  I would attend to the act of walking with complete awareness.  Such awareness, led me through the stages of dhayana, dharana and finally samadhi, and I suggest this technique for you as well to experiment with it you like.  One final note I will make, is that when you enter a state of oneness (samadhi) with the object, it is not like a normal state of mind.  You will know.  It will be quite amazing, full of bliss, outside the realm of your ordinary senses and certainly a paranormal experience for sure.

Psychic Development with Samyama:

Now getting back to psychic development with samyama.  In part 1, I indicated the use of the AUM Mantra Meditation for the development of psychic abilities, and stated that the next 3 would come from Sage Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.  So here are techniques number 2-4, all of which use the practice of samyama for the development of clairvoyant powers.

Techniques 2-3 both deal with samyama on light.  This is primarily because the power of clairvoyance (or clear seeing), deals with the element of light and the astral eye (Third Eye, Ajna Chakra).  Technique #4 is more advanced.

Technique #2 for Clairvoyance & Psychic Development:

Samyama on the light at the crown of the head (sahasrara chakra) leads to visions of masters and psychic adepts.  This practice will also lead to the development of clairvoyance and can be practiced by psychics looking to enhance their overall ability to see past the ordinary and can be useful to psychic mediums as well.  For more information on the chakra system, and sahasrara chakra please read – Kundalini Seven Chakra System.

Technique #3 for Clairvoyance & Psychic Development:

Very similar to technique #2, and also dealing with the element of light is the practice of samyama on the light within.  Here again, Sage Patanjali points out that oneness with this light, will bestow to the adept the power of knowing that which is hidden, subtle or remote.  The light within is often experienced during meditation and kundalini awakening.  You can read more about that in the article: Kundalini Awakening Sysmtoms.

Technique #4 for Clairvoyance & Psychic Development:

The final object for samyama dealing with the development of psychic ability, is more complicated than the above 2, which simply deal with the element of light.  In this sutra, Sage Patanjali indicates that samyama on the inter-relationship between the power of perception, the purpose of the sense organs and the ego, bestows the necessary mastery.

Here not only is the power of clairvoyance gained, but in having mastery over the manifested world, the power of movement at the speed of thoughts and the ability to function without the sense organs is also achieved.

Tools for Psychic Readers & Clairvoyants Summary:

Before I end this series, I wanted to point out one more technique which is highly reputed for bestowing psychic powers, and, for those familiar with this website, that is of course, Sodarshan Chakra Kriya – The Most Powerful Pranayama.  Sodarshan Chakra Kriya, like Psychic Development Technique #4 above, is known for bestowing a wide range of psychic abilities, so it is not just limited to clairvoyance and those interested in psychic readings and other psychic services.

Finally, I would like to end this series with a reminder about the place of psychic powers in the grand scheme of things.  They, like all other material acquisitions, can lead to ego attachments, which are the downfall of anyone seeking Self Realization.  So if you are a psychic practitioner, a healer, reader, clairvoyant, etc, please keep this in mind, and remember that the true purpose of life, and the real end to suffering, comes only with God Realization.
