Survey: What Are Your Major Obstacles to Establishing a Yoga and Meditation Practice?

It has been some time since we ran a survey here on Mastery of Meditation and Yoga and since it is always valuable to learn from each other, I thought it was time to run another interesting survey today. These surveys not just allow us to discuss important aspects of yoga and meditation practice, but they give us insight into the real practices of our fellow yogis and meditators, and allow us to understand real life challenges we all face on the path to Enlightenment.

So we all know the importance of a consistent yoga and meditation practice. No one is denying the great value in that. Scientific research and mountains of feedback all indicate the great benefits of practicing yoga and meditation daily, but still many of us have difficulty in maintaining such a regular practice. Why is that?  Let’s find out :-).

That is the topic of this survey. An inquiry into what you feel are the biggest obstacles to your establishing a consistent daily yoga and meditation practice.

    I Love your site, thanks!

My greatest obstacle to consistent meditation is confusion. The confusion is that there are so many different types of meditations that I am not sure where to start and for how long should I stay with a meditation. It seems that I need all of them.

Do I do multiple sessions one after the other or do I stay with one for a while then switch to some other one?

How will I know when I have made progress with a particular meditation? How will I know when to switch meditations?

I am relatively new to your site, so perhaps you have already answered these questions, so please forgive me if I have been redundant.

    Best regards,
    TomG

I find it so a bit hard to organize my time to do my daily excercises, but it does help if I plan ahead. If I know that I have to do something the next day and put it into my calendar it is easier to stick to it. :)
