OM (AUM) Mantra Meditation Video for Kundalini Yoga Class
Well Yoga & Meditation friends, finally here comes the first Video on Mastery of Meditation. It is a video of the OM (AUM) Mantra meditation and starting prayers we do before any Kundalini Yoga Class. I know it’s a bit overdue, but now that I have figured videos out… expect me to go overboard, as I normally do, and pound them out by the minute :-).
This video is hot off the press. It’s the OM (AUM) mantra meditation and prayers we did just today in our Kundalini Yoga Class. Today’s class was really enjoyable. We picked up the intensity a little bit and the students certainly relished the challenge and responded beautifully.
Before any Kundalini Yoga class we Tune In to our Higher Self and ask for Protection, Guidance and Inspiration. There is a mantra that is traditionally used in Kundalini Yoga (Ong Namo, Guru Dev Namo), I will upload that soon, but, this video has the OM (AUM) Mantra meditation being done after tuning in silently to the Inner Guru. The OM (AUM) mantra is the beej (seed) mantra for Anja Chakra and chanting it opens and activates this center or the 3rd Eye as it’s also called. The Ajna Chakra is from where one connects to one’s Higher Consciousness, one’s Divine Nature. As we are dealing with cosmic forces when practicing Kundalini Yoga, I suggest to always Tune In first and ask for protection using the prayers and AUM meditation in this video or using the traditional Ong Namo, Guru Dev Namo mantra.
You can find more details on how to meditate using the AUM mantra in the Anja Chakra Opening & Balancing Meditation Technique (3rd Eye), but here are some brief guidelines…
How To Chant AUM Mantra Meditation:
- Turn your eyes upwards so you are looking up into the center of your forehead.
- Then softly and with great devotion make the AUM sound and visualize it emanating from the center of the forehead. It’s a long “OHHHH” followed by a semi-long “MMMMM”.
- It is done in a single breath and can be repeated as many times as you like.
Here is the video demonstration of the OM (AUM) mantra meditation from our Kundalini Yoga class today.
Sir,
Firstly i want to thank you for doing a wonderful work in field of yoga.
I want to know where you teach yoga class ?
Loved the workout wonderful. Thank you
AUM has been explained to me a little differently than what I have seen here. I was initiated in a kriya by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. He explained AUM as 3 separate sounds, the A generating vibration in the navel, the U generating vibration in the chest or diaphram, and the M of course generating vibration in the nasal cavity. With OM making only 2 sounds, it doesn’t seem to me that the two are interchangeable. He also said that spending too much time on one sound as opposed to another could throw you out of balance, so couldn’t saying the O for a short time and the M for a longer duration within the breath be a bad thing? Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. And, very much love this site by the way!
Namaste
