Why is Everything for Free & Applying The First Law of Tantra

What is the most popular question I am asked?  How to attain Enlightenment?  Nope.  How to awaken Kundalini Shakti?  Nope.  How to master the Art of Meditation?  Nope.  The most popular question I am asked is, “Why is everything for free?”  Seriously, no lie.  I am asked that so often that I am planning to make a template for the answer so I don’t have to type it every time :-).  Everything is for free because I want to minimize money as an obstacle in your spiritual and personal growth, as best I can.  In other words, I want to make money as small a factor as possible in the decision making process related to your evolution.   This philosophy applies to both, the Mastery of Meditation Website & Blog as well as the Silent Mind Meditation & Yoga Center.

This actually raises many interesting and fascinating issues and I will touch upon one of these in this article.  The issue of the Law of Karma and Karmic Debt (rhinbandha).

Law of Karma & Karmic Debt:

The First Law of Tantra

Is the precious knowledge of Yoga and Meditation supposed to be given away for free?  Does this create a Karmic debt for those who the knowledge is being given to without payment?  Is the transaction not being closed?  In Eastern Philosophy there is the concept of Guru Dakshana.  Which means that at the end of your training and studies, you would repay the teacher by giving them something in return for the teachings.  This would then close the loop and the knowledge would “take hold”.  I though prefer to view this scenario through a Law that states things slightly differently.  It is one of my favorite laws and I call it the First Law of Tantra.  The law says, “Whatever comes let it come, whatever goes let it go”.  So in my view, those who I help without any visible return, I was meant to help/repay and others who return the energy in some form, are completing the transaction from their end.  I try to allow everything to come and go as it pleases.

In the in-person Yoga & Meditation classes I have a donation box, this allows students to return energy in the form of money for the teachings they receive and they give according to their financial situation.  These funds then go back into the Yoga Studio and help expand and shape it for the better.  On the Mastery of Meditation Website, though, I don’t have any mechanisms for readers to donate, but, there is a way for you to give back if you so feel.  This is by helping to spread the knowledge the website contains.  If you find some article useful, enjoyable or interesting and you feel others would enjoy and benefit from it also, then please share it with them.  To help you do this I have set-up Social Bookmarking Buttons on the top and bottom of every article (including this one).  Here is how they work.

Social Bookmarking Websites are places where readers gather to read what others have found to be valuable or interesting on the World Wide Web.  By submitting the article to the particular Social Bookmarking Website, means you are giving it a positive vote and making it accessible to others.  There is no charge for you to submit the article to the website, but, it does require a one time free registration, which you will be asked to do the first time you login to that site.  There are many Social Bookmarking Websites and I have provided those that are most popular (Digg, Del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Netscape, Blinklist, Technorati), but, if you are already a member of another social bookmarking site please feel free to submit articles to it.  It only takes a few minutes for you to submit the article and that small effort will go a long way in, not only helping give something back to Mastery of Meditation, but, also in helping others in their spiritual journey.  To all those readers who already submit the articles to these sites, thank you for your support and generosity.

God Bless You All.

I like your “Whatever comes let it come, whatever goes let it go” saying. In my own spiritual readings, I have also learnt that spiritual gifts, if I can call it that, should never ever been sold or given for a price. And also, there is that saying that no good deed goes unrewarded. But then again these are all universal truths known to all religions, even though not everyone practices them in their daily lives, which is something you are clearly doing.

Payment does not have to be in the form of money. You receive blessings in many forms and in abundance.
